The church members are pro-democratic, pro-welfare, and pro-equal justice. What could they possibly want by influencing you? They could earn more money from other careers and means. There is no one they wish to disadvantage.
If Jesus wanted to be just a prophet or philosopher, He and his apostles would be just as successful, and would've survived persecution. If society wanted a myth for the people, then they already had the likes of Hercules, or the true stories of Moses and other prophets. They had and have everything they need to keep going. The existence through persecution is enough proof to history. History is probable because they have no one they wish to disadvantage.
Some bad motives for starting Christianity (if it weren't true):
1. Guessing- why not then worship random rocks along your path?
2. Segregation-this is a product not a purpose. Segregation is caused by immaturity. The Catholic Church is not immature.
3. Safety-to educate stereotypes? Why not assert it as myth?
4. Pleasure-not much of one, after one evaluates the fact that it would be pointless if it weren't true, unlike other religions (Hinduism is fun, Islam is an abuse trap, Buddhism is an exhaustion trap)
5. Sanity-to focus on something during insanity? Why not use positive reality facts?
6. Authority-Redundant of government. There is no enforcement beyond moral terms.
7. Appeasement-superstition maxed out to absurdity? Jesus is correct and His wisdom is fortifying.
8. Inspiring Truth-makes one evaluate; redundant
9. Responsibility-Charity and Duty; redundant
10. Paranoia-Again, why not a rock?
11. Harmless Fun-too much waste for fun; a practical joke on the gullible? It wouldn't catch on.
12. Character Building-teaching stereotypes? Why not call it a myth?
13. Political Ideals-Charity and Duty; redundant of government
14. Independence-redundant of government
15. Problem Creation; Obstacle Creation; Obfuscation- everyone
eventually evaluates it
16. Money-There is no economic value to Christianity as a
belief; if only the fit survive, then there would still be no economic loss
17. Coping-poetry? Wouldn't it be enough to say "Oh Ms. X died, but she's gone to a better place" or "You'll get your comeuppance!"?
